The Ten Plagues of the Jarvi Household

1. Steven has been gone for 2 weeks
2. I've been congested for 2 weeks
3. Two nights ago my congestion moved into my chest
4. Daisy discovered she can still chew on things with her muzzle on
5. Daisy ate an entire bag of frosting with her muzzle on at 4am while I was sleeping on Tuesday
6. Tuesday evening, Daisy puked on the clean laundry
7. Went to the Doctor today because Evelyn started coughing this morning and I thought, 'Hey, maybe I'm contagious.' Turns out I have acute bronchitis and a sinus infection, neither one of them, they assured me, she can get but will most likely get a sever cold, just not as bad as me.
8. As of this afternoon, Evelyn is really sick and won't eat and just barely went to sleep after a long rocking and walking session and even though I'm exhausted my chest hurts too badly to sleep.
9. Steven is also sick but he's in Michigan so neither one of us can take care of each other, ourselves, or the baby...and Daisy make my sickness a million times worse now that she is not detained nor deterred by her muzzle.
10. The Department of Transportation has not found a way to safely apparate or travel by Floo Powder

Steven: 6 weeks Evelyn: 7 months

And so we begin busy season. As of right now, Steven is in Kalamazoo Michigan, last week he was in Chicago and next week he'll be in Huston. He leaves Sunday mornings and get backs Friday nights, works on Saturday and leaves on Sunday...Continue cycle for 6 weeks. So, as of now, I am a single parent and it really isn't any fun. It's not bad during the day because I'm just with Evelyn every day any way, but when she goes to bed a 6pm, what's next...bed for me too? And you would think with all this extra time, our apartment would be cleaner...well...you'd be wrong. I've been taking on large crafts to keep me busy so really, everything is more messy. We're just trying to get through it. I would say I'm taking it stoically, but I'm not. HUGE complainer, but really, not my favorite situation ever.

I hate that Steven is missing out on so much. Like Evelyn started waving at people in church today. SO cute. Her little pudgy fingers are adorable. And she started sitting really well the other week when he was gone too. 6 weeks is a long time to miss out on. Neither one of us are too pleased.

But, with Steven gone so much I've been able to get a minimum of 5 workouts in a week. Working my way up to twice a day. I have a plan. Evelyn and I go to the gym every morning at 8:30 BUT Ellen is on at 3pm at which time the gym kids center is closed SO I think we're going to also pick up a 3pm work out in our crappy apt gym. They have a treadmill and a broken elliptical machine. Steven and I are training for a du-athalon which is like a tri-athalon minus the swimming because, well, I don't do swimming.

Also, I'm always sick. Just thought everyone should know. Always.

The week before Steven left, I decided to go on an adventure. I rarely go on the freeway but decided to go out and my tire blew. Luckily, Steven and I had talked about this scenario many times because one road trip we were on, someone in the opposite direction of traffics tire blew and she shot over the median and across all our lanes of traffic and ended up in the ditch facing the direction our traffic was flowing. So when your tire blows, slowly apply your breaks and move to the side of the road...or that's what Steven constantly reminded me to do, and it happened, and I remembered and we were safe. And Steven was in town to rescue me. I also got a police escort off the freeway to the nearest gas station. Exciting day...

So since Stevens been gone, I've been keeping him updated with picture messages.

The day she decided she likes sitting

The day I decided the changing tables not such a great idea anymore. She was trying to go right over.

She decided also that she loves to suck on her warm wash cloth in the tub. Who needs bath toys

Evelyn's camera shy picture

I told Amanda I was bored and she told me I should go get some kittens and put barbie clothes on them like we did when we were little, and this was the compromise.

She's been playing in her crib before she actually falls asleep and several times she'll be completely buried in her blankets

Still a sleeping thumb sucker

Evelyn's 7 months!

What she's doing now:

Rolling like mad. She's mobile.
Sitting like a champ and getting knocked over frequently by Daisy.
Loving Daisy
Eating Everything
Loosing interest in her bottle
Takes 2 short naps a day
Loves to cuddle
Making lots of Friends at the gym

7 month Photo shoot!!!

It's too cold to go anywhere so this is what we came up with.

My New Favorite Photographer

My cousin in Kansas sent me an email about this lady Adele Enersen. While her baby in sleeping she creates these elaborate scenes around her to depict what she thinks her baby might be dreaming about. So creative and so cute. Here are a few of them but go to her blog milasdaydreams.blogspot.com and check them out. On the blog go to 'Behind the Blog' and there's a video of all the pictures. I also recommend NOT google imaging them because dirty pictures come up...so just go to the blog.

Thanksgiving, 6 months, and Christmas

This may end up being a picture log because I have tons of pictures from the last month. So for Thanksgiving we went to our friends the Jensen's in Utah. It was way good to see them and for Evelyn and Mason to get better acquainted.

We got tho go to the Denver Botanical Gardens Trail of lights in early December which was a lot of fun. Evelyn LOVED the lights. It was too cold though. We had planned on going to the blossoms of light show too...but we chickened out.

Evelyn also got to go on the swings for her first time. She didn't quite know what to do with herself. She enjoyed sucking on the swing (I know, I know, germs, gross...whatever) But didn't like the actual 'swinging' part. And she Hated the slide. It was only like 3 feet long but it made her cry. She'll soon learn the joy of sliding I'm sure.

AND....6 months already. We were at Stevens parents house when she turned 6 months so for her photo shoot we got to go down to the beach. It was super cute. She LOVED it. I'm not quite sure what she liked...it was smelly, over cast, and little chilly but she was smiling so big she about swallowed her face.

I know it looks like a cry, but seriously, biggest smile EVER! She was ecstatic.

As far as what she's doing now...She is 17 lbs and 8 oz and 27in long, that puts her in the 80th percentile for weight and the 90th for height. Somewhere between 5 and 6 months she was able to roll from back to front quite fluidly. She's gotten over her 'I hate being on my Tummy' phase and now you can't keep her on her back. Even when we're changing her diaper...which is sometimes a little frustrating. She also sleeps on her belly now, which worried me at first because it's pounded into you "Don't EVER let them sleep on their belly...sids...suffocation..." So I asked at her 6months appointment and it's fine now...I hate that no no no, then all of a sudden yes stuff...stupid really. And she's eating very well. Loves peaches, pears, sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, chicken....she hated peas at first but about swallowed Stevens hand last night because he wasn't fast enough with them.

She can pretty much sit up by her own self but really just loves to jump. So she spends most of her day in her door way jumper and in one of those bouncy activity stations. She doesn't hold still for anything. Not even during meals. Yesterday she got her knees underneath her, so crawling is just a few days/weeks away.

She loves Daisy still...more than me most days I'm pretty sure. Especially since we've all had cold and I've had to be the bad guy and clean her nose. If you put you hand near her face now, she freaks out. I tried to have Steven clean her last night ,just put a saline solution in her nose and then aspirate it out, she jerked and he squirted it in her eyes. It's just saline so not a big deal but I guess that makes me the permanent bad guy.

CHRISTMAS!!! We love Christmas. We were at my family's house for Christmas and is was wonderful. Evelyn got more toys than she knows what to do with, which makes me happy because she didn't have any....she also got some really cute clothes and a movie...shrek, the last one, whatever it's called. She really just loved the paper...don't they all.

FAVORITE part of Christmas.... Yep...stuck on there...stuck to her tongue flesh.

She also went sledding for the first time. Pay no attention to my giant, ripped jacket. It's the latest fashion on the mountain.

Since we've gotten home we've just been trying to relax...aka get over our colds. I had it in Seattle, Steven had it in Spokane, and then all three of have had it since we got home on the 29th. For New Years Eve we went to some friends house and played games. It was nice to get out of the house and have some fun. We love games.

Steven went back to work...we really he had to work the 30th and 31st and then went back to work to start off busy season on January 4. Yesterday I made Evelyn a towel dress out of a hand towel since she's out grown her robe. It only cost me 3 dollars to make.

She's in her jammies with the towel on because I can't keep Daisy away from her and she's so wiggely, I didn't want her exposed.

I've been crafting up a storm. I got my hair cut in early December (love it!) and have gone hair accessory wild. I have more hair stuff than I'll ever wear, but it's fun. These are just two of them, and as general rule, when you take pictures of yourself you have to make that face. And yes, that is a hat. An everyday, out and about hat.
