5 Months Already

Evelyn is 5 months as of today. So, as per usual, we had our monthly photo shoot.

We were in Washington this past week and had tons of fun. Evelyn loved all the attention and she also loved this car...along with her new hat. Grandma got that for her when we were there.

Evelyn also watched TV for the first time...ever (we don't have a TV). There's a reason our pediatrician says no TV before 2 years old. She was addicted! Normally she stays us for 1 1/2 hrs to 2 hrs between naps, but she stayed up all evening watching Lost with my mom. So first and last time. It was really funny though. She was laughing and giggling the whole time.

We also got to see Harry Potter 7 when we were home (we meaning my mom and me). It was good...I do like the movies (Steven does not) but I like them separate from the books. The books are well, nothing less then world rocking and the movies (in comparison) are a mere 3.0 on the Richter scale. However, the movies in and of themselves, are very descent. But really, it's like this, They have to cut so much out for the movies, why are they adding stuff that never even happened?

I also got the opportunity to make cookies for Stevens', Boss', Daughters' bridal shower. The theme was 'around the clock' (I have no idea how that relates to anything...I didn't ask) so they asked me to make clock cookies...Done. And for the record, If you ever complain about paying less than $1000 for an elaborate cake, to you I say 'try making it your own Freaking self'. It took me hours to make 36 cookies. I've spent days, nay, WEEKS on a single cake. I do not make cakes for an income for one reason and one reason only; No one can afford me. I love doing it, but holy freaking cow is it time consuming...and messy. End of rant. Except that if you do want me to make your cake, I'd do the labor for free if you buy me a cake cricut. (OK funny typo- I originally had 'fake' cricut...I would not make a cake for a plastic bug). Seriously, that's only like $450 for a wedding cake, spread the word. I even have a cake portfolio, I mean business.

Birthday, Organizing, and 80's Movies

It's already been a busy month. Both Daisy and Steven had their birthdays. Daisy in one whole year old now and Steven is 25.

We didn't do much to celebrate because Steven had his 3rd CPA exam the day before his birthday so we just kind of relaxed and then Amanda and Jason came for a visit. But Steven did get his cranberry jello cream cheese 'cake'...why...because he loves it and wants it more often than thanksgiving

We mostly just played games but it was nice to have more than two people playing . Steven and I play games all the time and to be honest...it's nice not to see him win every time. Mostly because when it's just the two of us, him winning means me losing, so this way, we both lose.

Steven and Jason went to a basketball game Friday night and I had the brillient idea to have a sweater makeover session...not so great. Amanda just made broaches and hair things but I decided it was a good idea to try and imitate this sweater....

Cute sweater right...well, not so cute with dark purple and dark green stripes and a light purple bow... see...

So after everyone left, I decided our apartment needed a serious makeover. I really wish I had before pictures because it was a disaster. In Evelyn's 'room' there was hardley room enough to walk through it. litterally there was a path. And her closet was just piled with junk. We had so much stuff still in boxes and totes. So...room makeover...Tada!

\

And then this is Steven and my closet. Floor to ceiling organization. It took 4 days to get our apartment looking like this but it finally feels like a home.

I went to Babies R Us today and got a screamin deal. Usually their clothes are way too expensive for me but they had these little jeans and top on supper clearance!! So I actually got the jeans in 2 sizes, for less than $2 each, and the little top for $1.40. Their size 12-18 month so it won't be until spring or summer that she wears them but so cute!

I decided I really like cheezy 80's romance movies so if you have any good sugestions send them my way. Just watched Romancing the Stone, loved it...Again. I'd seen it but still like it

Well, it's chili bean firday so I'm off to make dinner, and then tomorrow Evelyn and I fly to spokane. Steven's going to Alabama for the week on business, so we get a vaction.

Our Super-Duper Roller

Our Little Roller

Evelyn rolled over for the first time on Sunday. She's always hated tummy time but we thought we'd give it another go, and she just did it right off. She was so proud of herself. She still hates being on her stomach but at least she can get off her stomach now.

I also was able to get this video to upload. This is still the first day she laughed, she hasn't done it since but we're sort of patiently waiting .

We've also been trying the solid food thing this week...not so successful. I don't think her little tummy's quite ready for it. She's got the eating thing down...but the days we spoon fed her she had some serious tummy trauma, so we're going to cut back and hold off full time spoon feeding for a while. Also, it's hard getting rice cereal out of her little nostrils.

Today I was the last voter for Douglas county. I had forgotten to vote and was on my way to the gym, passing by the high school i was supposed to vote at, and thought I'd go check and see if the polls were closed. Got lost in the parking lot...no I don't want to talk about it...finally got to where I was supposed to be at 6:59 and the polls closed at 7pm so I did get to vote and I got my sticker. I am a responsible citizen.

I also made Evelyn a coat rack today. A while ago, Hobby Lobby had all their hanger letters and ceramic letters on super clearance, So today was the day I re found all the letters and hung them up. (I lover her little jackets!!)

I was also able to sneak in and get a picture of sleeping Evelyn. She sucks her thumb to sleep, so when she finally falls asleep, it just falls right next to her.

And I lover this sweater she's wearing but when we go out in it, I always make sure she's wearing a bow...We've had an old lady ask how old HE was the first time out in blue with out a bow. She'll get her hair eventually...I'm banking on that it's curly. She has about 5 really dark, corkscrew hairs that jet out and are all sorts of kinky and curly.

4 Months Already!

Evelyn had her four month appointment this morning. Everything is looking good. She's in the 80th percentile for her height and weight, so she's well proportioned...just the size of a 7-8 month baby. She loved getting to be naked for half an hour (we typically don't do that at home...learned our lesson many times) and was all smiley until the shots. I was trying to distract her and she was laughing and then the needle went in and she started sceaming like a banshee. It took a while to calm her down. Poor little girl, it was really the saddest thing ever. But the good news is at the farmers market today I got a big block of feta cheese (2inX4inX1in) for $1.40. I'm pretty excited about it.

We get to start feeding Evelyn solid foods which is also exciting. We're going to start tonight at dinner once Steven gets home. Just rice cereal for now, but it's about time. We're going through a big can of formula a week.

Last night we went to pick up some caramel for our carmel apple party and Steven was wondering just how much Evelyn weighed.....
It said she was 14 lbs, but she's actually 15 lbs and 26in long (not that the fruit scale could tell how tall she is)
We're also getting Settlers of Catan tonight so we have that to look forward to.

Evelyn's First Real Laugh

For a while now, Evelyn's been able to chuckle at herself but last night was the first night we got a solid deep belly laugh. She thought Dasiy was really funny. You'll have to excuse me and Steven for laughing so hard, but it really was the first time we heard her do this, and the quality is really poor because I only had my cell phone. But she is the CUTEST!!

New Pictures, Small Update

October has definitely been a busy month. Evelyn will be 4 months tomorrow so we have that to look forward to. She can almost roll over...sort of. she can get to her side and you would think gravity would take her the rest of the way but not yet. We've also been really busy with my photography thing. We realize now that starting the second week in October wasn't the greatest idea...It's cold out! And I can't really expect people to pose in front of our blankets like I'll have Evelyn do...Maybe people don't mind paying to pose with used bedding...

Steven got the results back from his first CPA exam...He got a 93. So we're pretty excited about it. Apparently only 10% of test takers pass all 4 on the first try, so we're crossing our fingers. But they don't even get an award or anything, I mean, he'll still get certified...but not like on a plaque or anything, just paper like everyone else...Regardless of if he passes all four on the first time or not, One of our friends will be finding out if he passes all four at the same time Steven does, so if they both pass, we're going to get a Costco cake to celebrate, and if they don't, we're going to get a Costco cake and mope ant talk about how much we hate the CPA exams.

I also made Evelyn's Halloween costume. She's so cute, we have so much fun together. Pretty glad she's photogenic really...I mean...all babies are cute...but some just look better than others....and with needing to build my portfolio, it's super convenient...and I'll be honest, I love having people come up to me and tell me how pretty she is.

That's pretty much all that's new: Professional photographer, soon to be CPA, homemade costumes, and cutest baby ever. Enjoy the pictures.

Going private is currently too hard....

So I was going to make my blog private and then...well it's not that it's too hard really, it's that I haven't had time to get all my stuff together. I thought I would just do a quick update for the Fam's we don't see... aka everyone.
Evelyn is a little over three months now and is:
Smiling cause we're funny
laughing cause she's funny
Going to bed between 7and 8 pm and sleeping solid until 7:30 or 8am
Taking two, three hour naps
eating us out of house and home (we're seriously going to have to start feeding her solids cause this is rediculous)
Talking like crazy
Standing with hardly any support
Refusing to do tummy time
Sucking her thumb (which is adorable now, but maybe not for long)
TEETHING, yes, teething. I had no idea it could happen so soon
Not a fan of Daisy although daisy loves her to death. But, it's like this, Daisy eats poop, so we have to moniter their relationship pretty closely
Pretty much the cutest baby ever.
News on Steven:
He has taken 2 of the 4 sections of the CPA exams and we still haven't recieved any scores
working hard, as always
....
Me:
Since having Evelyn I have lost 33lbs to date. Sometimes I think "WOOT, WOOT!" and other time I think, "Holy crap!! I suck at being pregnant and gained a baby elephant!"
I'm now a professional photographer, well, as of this Sarturday. I posted my photo blog on craigslist and I guess people liked what they saw because I have 5 apts for the next 2 weeks (memoriesbykelsey.blogspot.com)
I have business cards
That's pretty much all. We've been super busy with nothing really to show for it. Our house is messy, our dog is untrained, Steven's always studying or working, and I'm lucky if I get to shower, but we're happier than we've ever been.
It's been a while since I posted pictures so here comes a big stream of them! They're a little helter skelter, but it's her blessing, naked baby pictures, her 3 month pictures (in the wicker buggie with the cream and maroon dress) some pictures i liked for the props...her in sleeping arrangements when we went to kansas and one of me and her. And don't forget to follow my photography blog, memoriesbykelsey.blogspot.com

As Requested

Here you go Amanda:
So last night we went to a concert in the park. Evelyn's first concert. We had a little picnic and listened to music. It was alright, as far as music goes. What I don't understand is this...One of the preformers gets up there, starts to play and sing, makes it maybe one bar into the song and stops and says, "sorry it's been a long time since I've played this" and satrts all over. Really? They schedule these people at least a week in advance...practice. Not that I'm mad that she messed up or anything and she was good, but how embarassing for her.

Before the concert and during

Also last night, Evelyn had her first blow out (I'm sure she'll really appreciate me writing this is 16 years but she'll just have to deal with it) It wasn't too bad, pooped on her onsie though and we were at the park, so she was stinky for a while.

I'm getting a lot better with the 'gross factor'. For those of you who don't know, I didn't even want the doctors to hand her right to me after she was born for fear of the grossness, but it really wasn't bad. And then there's this thing with me and spit. We were at some friends house about 3 weeks before Evelyn was born and there baby spit up on Steven, and I about spewed on everyone...so that's comeing along quite nicely if I do say so myself.

I had to go to the doctor today and they drew my blood and gave me a shot in the ole buttocks...so not a good day so far. Also our sinks backed up today. Apparently, our neighbors sink has been backing up for quite some time and now it's backed up into our apartment. There is food floating in our bathroom sink. And I've also been crafting. I really like the carseat canopy's and so my grandma made me a really cute one, that'll be perfect for winter because it keeps the heat in really well, but she needed a lighter one for the summer so I decided to try my hand at it and love it!!!

Today Evelyn looked so cute in her little romper. I love those things. Grandma Jarvis made it to Rexburg yesterday and she has been loving it. Evelyn also loves her little pink puppy form auntie Amanda. And as you can see, Daisy is her gaurd dog. Cute story: We had Evelyn in her bouncy vibrator chair and aparently Daisy also liked the vibrations so she layed down next to her and put her head in Evelyn's lap. They love each other
