Wrapping Up August

Here's our going on's for the last few weeks of August.
Steven's work bought out a box at the Spokane Indians game and he and the kids went to the baseball game. They had a ton of fun. They had their own private area and were served dinner and they got to meet Recycling Man. "A wheel duper hero MOM!" according to Caden.

The kids could really care less about baseball, and as per usual this summer, it was blazing hot, so the kids had fun spraying each other, and everyone else,  with a water bottle.

I wasn't able to go to this particular work event, but it looks like they had a great time. There was a pit where one of the light poles was so they threw all the kids in there with the squirt bottle for the duration of the game.
Apparently, it was a ton of fun because the kids couldn't even make it all the way to the car before giving into exhaustion...

This is where they gave up...you can see our car in the second parking space there....so close!
Along with the heat this summer, the fires have been crazy! there for a couple weeks, we weren't even supposed to go outside because the air was so bad. Steven and I were heading downtown town one day and this was how bad the smoke was. Mid day. Pretty gross.
As a result, we spent several long days inside, and a few days out shopping just to get out of the house. One of those lucky days, I found a baptism dress for Evelyn for $8!! I know it's a little premature, about 3 years, but if it doesn't fit, I'm only out $8, and if it does fit, well, it's amazing!
Caden also decided he needed to run around in his night time undies. This is a rarity for him. He's such a modest little man. We call this one the shy champion.

I started on my Christmas crafts during our smoke-in. Caden gets super hero peg dolls and Evelyn's will be all the princesses.
This was my view one very sick day...I was ok...ok...ok...wait, going down! I had to take an emergency nap and lay down.
Luckily, this is how Caden handled it. They were watching the Ipad in Evelyn's bed and he fell asleep, which had never happened before.

We also spent a lot of time coloring and playing games those weeks
And then to mix it up a bit, I let the kids have a sleep over and make a dessert for themselves. Did you know you can take an cereal and marshmallows and add any other junk you have in your house and make a freaking awesome dessert? this was lucky charms and a bag of chocolate chips.
They watched a movie at their slumber party

And colored in some new coloring books
And finally fell asleep at about 10 once we made Evelyn move up onto her bunk and Caden stay below....However....He did not slumber well. He woke up screaming in a panic not know where he was. Poor little man.
Another attempt to get Caden to clean his room...just reading his squirrel book.
Evelyn just being he sweet little self
And then FINALLY after the hot and the fires and the smoke, it rained. And we were so happy. The kids just love their umbrellas

Caden has a new favorite trick...spinning a pot lid on his finger

And I found Evelyn a Cheerleading outfit and she has been loving that. I think I washed it 3 times the first week we had it. She wore it everyday.

And Evelyn decided a while ago she wanted to take horse back riding lessons and I forgot about it all summer and finally remembered to ask Angela. So Evelyn started horse back riding last week. She loved it!

She brushed Daisy and picked her feet.

She helped saddle and got up all by herself

She even got to trot and super loved it!

This picture isn't much but I just love it! Evelyn just having a good time with her daddy during family night.

This is Caden's rendition of pop corn popping.
And this little boy normally wakes up between 7:30 and 8, but on this lovely morning, he woke up a little before 6 and this was him by 10am.
The kids love to make pizza. They get to roll out their own dough and then put their own toppings on. It's by far one of their favorite things to do.

And Caden, he makes sure each pepperoni is pressed in good and hard. Gotta secure that pepperoni.

So, I'm not sure how to edit videos, so the only important part of this one happens in like the first two seconds. For whatever reason, Caden uses his hair as a napkin...

Fun at McDonalds
Cuddle time on the couch

The kids went with Steven one night to the church so he could write out some checks and they were fascinated by the shredder... Of course not fully understanding, Caden drew a picture, shredded it, then promptly wanted it back.
Me and Steven had a nice date night. We went out to dinner down town and as we were finishing up our meal we overheard someone say "pumpkin doughnuts" so off to Pig Out in the Park we went.
The pumpkin doughnuts could be found at Glazed and confused.. It was nuts crazy busy there

And I hate to say it...but they were actually quite disappointing. I mean it was a hot fresh doughnut so you can't go too wrong, but the huckleberry ones were better. Being Pig Out in the Park, the portions were monstrous, so the smallest order you could place was 6 doughnuts...not complaining.

And Caden had a ton of fun with the sitter. Another hard slumber.

And finally...you know your doing it right when your 5 year old does this
