One month of busy season down...

We are already one month and one week into busy season! At the same time though, I feel like it should be a lot later than the second week of February. Busy season started quite early for us this year....like last September. Steven hasn't been out of town yet this year so that is a good thing. He leave the house at about 4:30 in the morning and gets home between 7:30 and 8 at night and then the going in on Saturdays from 7-4 and the working from home Sunday mornings... so the kids still don't get to see much of him. Yay for busy season.... But at least the traveling is less this year and doesn't start for another week.
With Steven gone so much, we have a lot of time to fill during the days, so we snuggle a lot..

We play a lot of games. This particular game I was playing with Caden and he said his person had white hair...Sarah does not have white hair. I'm convinced he did it to throw the game because he totally guessed my person...
We got new tennis shoes and signed up for the SuperHero 5k and have been practicing tying shoes and running outside
I've been letting the kids help out more around the house, even if I have to mop again after they go to sleep, they really like to sweep and mop

And then sometimes, we just get bored...

I've been trying to come up with small projects to keep me busy. We've decided to put a small amount into the kitchen and paint and do a back splash. I painted the pantry doors this week but had to do it downstairs because it was too cold and I marked off an area that the kids were not allowed to go in and Caden swore he didn't. He only admitted to him crime after I took a picture of him and showed him the black paint on his forehead and hair. He said he might have bonked.

I normally don't take pictures of food but I though this was so pretty. I made skinny enchiladas one night and they were so good with fresh salsa and what nots

Caden just looked so cute the other night. I love this picture because Cadens bed time routine says so much about him. Trucks. And every truck is paired up. they all have to have a "sweetie". His Clifford books, not just one or two, he likes to go to bed with 10+ Clifford books. And Clifford is SO funny. He's got his meme, camo pants and a bug shirt. He couldn't be happier.
 And Evelyn...well...she sleeps hard.
Evelyn has the sweetest little friend, Ana. And these girls will plan play dates on the bus and then come home and tell us what's going to happen. Last week Evelyn came home and said that I needed to text Ana's mom to ask if we could go over there for lunch and a play date. And sure enough, as soon as Evelyn relayed that story, my phone rings and it's Ana's mom saying she just heard the plan too and knew I wouldn't call to invite ourselves over but that we can come and play. Then this week, Evelyn comes home and says, "Ana wanted me to give you this." They are so cute and just the best of friends.
We got a few inches of snow this week too and Caden was sweet enough to offer to shovel the side walk. This is the finished product

Evelyn has also started ballet this last week. We did a trial class and she was sold as soon as we got there. And she practiced everything she learned all week. So we officially start Ballet this week and got a nice new leotard for classes.

This was at her ballet studio. They were doing ballerina marches. you can see her high kneeing it in the back mirror.

And our first day video montage.

In other big news, Evelyn got to go to a Masquerade Ball with her Daddy on Friday. We spent all week preparing. We went and got a mask at the dollar store and she wanted her mask to match her dress so we got some paint and lace and feathers and went to work.

And of course she had to have an up-do. So that took some doing. Standing and sitting for 30 min is not an easy task for a 5 year old. about ever 5 min, we'd stop so she could go run in circles in the living room

And we also had to have a matching corsage and Steven a boutonniere and it was the cutes thing ever!
Caden was feeling a little left out and wanted to be in a picture too...nice work buddy

They has a lot of fun. Steven said she just danced the night away. At one point he asked her if she was having fun at the dance and her response was,"Daddy, I'm dancing, you just stand there and shake."
She dance so hard with her daddy and with her friends that at about 8, she gave into exhaustion and asked to go home because her feet hurt and she was so tired. Best. Night. Ever.

Me and Cade also went on a date when they went to the ball. We went out and got ice cream

The next day, we hit the gym early and went to Home Depots kid craft. They made Valentine's Day mail boxes.

 We ran into Ana while we were there and her little sister Evie. If you'll notice, Evelyn's box says Evelyn <3 ana="" and="" best="" evelyn="" friends.="" i="" m="" name.="" of="" on="" p="" put="" s="" she="" side="" telling="" the="" you="">

And lastly, I'd forgotten about pictures on our actual camera since I use my phone for everyday pictures now, so here are a few from Christmas that I forgot I even had.
Caden and his noisy lawn mower
 Evelyn unwrapping her waffle iron...
And sporting her Shari's name tag
Evelyn made Caden giver her a hug after each present they opend
 Evelyn and Rarity
And then a photo shoot from a week or so ago....I think the soccer ball makes it artistic...
