So Evelyn has always had a bit of a diaper rash and it's gotten quite bad a few times, so we have been to the doctor for it but they're remedy, anti-fungal cream and LOTS of desitine, is no longer working, and today it cracked a little and just breaks my heart. SO I was wondering if any mommies have any remedies that seem to work for you. Fear not, we will take her to the doctor if it continues to be as bad as it is now, we just wanna look at some other options because my experiences with the pediatrician have been thus...wait it out...make sure she's drinking fluids...put some cream on it, and I'm not really wantin' to shell out another $210 for wait it out or put some cream on it (but we will if needs be). So if any cream or combination of creams or whatever has worked for you, please let us know.
P.s Can babies have too much oatmeal?

Hey Kelsey! I've never commented on your blog but I do read it :) I guess now is as good a time as any, right? (Just in case you don't know, I'm Kyle Harston's twin. So not some crazy stalker haha. I grew up with Steven.)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, Have you tried changing diaper brands? I know that Luvs gives my boys diaper rash but Huggies (or Kirkland Signature) doesn't. So I have to stay away from Luvs. Also, I've heard that a lot of Desitin isn't good for a baby...especially baby girls. I recently read that it can lead to ovarian cancer? (http://healthychild.org/blog/comments/safe_or_not_desitin/) Also, have you tried using a more natural brand of diaper rash ointment like Burts Bees or Butt Paste? I've heard great things about both of these brands. A little more spendy, but if it means her bum isn't sore then it's worth it!
Good luck with this adventure!!
And I'm sure babies can have too much oatmeal, but I bet it's pretty hard to get there. If you are concerned about it then you can switch it up with the barley or rice cereals. This is just a thought, but maybe the oatmeal is contributing to her diaper rash?
I have some of the stuff I love and I for the life of me can't think of what it is called. Cured Lij's rashes the next day! Also butt paste is AWESOME! Works almost as good. That is my next favorite. If you want it(the stuff that is my favorite) I can get it to you tomorrow. Let me know!
ReplyDeleteAlso what are you doing for fluids since she won't take a sippy? I forgot to ask you that today...
Hey Kelsey...tried & true every time is crisco & cornstarch! Crazy I know! Grandma Mary & your mother in law Cindy have used it I know. Just smear on some crisco (doesn't matter if its butter flavored) and then sprinkle on some cornstarch. So weird, you feel like your making a turkey but it works everytime! Abby had serious rashes and everything made them worse. I did finally end up switching diapers, like your friend suggested, but this old mothers remedy cleared them up everytime! Try it , I dare you! Hope you are all well, beside the sore bums! love you all! Missy
